In an old country village called Chaddleworth in Berkshire, I grew up listening to my father's tales around the fireside on cold winter evenings. My father was a born storyteller. My mother recited poetry she'd learned, and would rattle off without a book.
I've written many novels, poetry and some hymns set to traditional tunes.
My favourite writers are Elliott O'Donnell, Dennis Wheatley and Jack Higgins, while my love affair with Ireland dominates most of my writing.
My inspiration is listening to old country music, both American and Irish, as it has been since my writing career began.
I currently reside in Thatcham, which is near Newbury in Berkshire.

Set in London in the mid 1980's, this is the story of Christina O'Donnell, but prefers to be called Christy. Recently released from HMP Holloway, for her part in armed robbery, she is immediately placed into the custody of her long-suffering brother Barry. Barry's wife Linda is none too pleased with the arrangement, and scarcely approves of her sister-in-law's criminal activities.
Christy was given eight years in prison, but after a period of hunger strikes, attempted suicide, and losing the child she was expecting, she is released after four years.
Driven into crime in an endeavour to escape an impoverished existence, she meets the enigmatic gangster Rick Morelli, they embark on a crime spree of armed robbery and murder. During a raid on a Security Express van, a guard was killed.
Morelli was supposedly killed during a shoot-out with police, and was said to have died in a fire in the caravan belonging to a Jewish man, Arnie Rosenbaum.
Almost from the time of her release, Christy is aware of being watched. Rumour has it that she has some money stashed from the raids, which is in fact quite true. Now she is out she plans to get it. Not even Barry is aware of its existence. He is also observed by the irascible detective Inspector Victor Simmons, who believes he's also entitled to his share, after all the hours and manpower he's put in trying to capture the gang.
Then there is local hard-man Alex Chadwell. He's the guy who got the gang put away in the first place. He too is after the money. The only guy Christy trusts is the man to whom she's trusted with the key to her safety deposit box where her money is. The man is Irish arms dealer Paddy McIlvaney. McIlvaney once sold arms to the IRA, and spent sometime in Ireland's
Crumlin road jail. A man who is secretly in love with her, and with whom she has had sex.
James Lascar is an ex-biker. He lives with his pregnant girlfriend, with whom he has a small
child. Down on his luck, he encounters Christy as she's running away from Chadwell and his hoods. Jimmy strikes up a friendship with her, although he would prefer something more.
But there is someone dogging Christy at every turn, someone who wants to see her back inside.
Duped into visiting Chadwell's Rickmansworth house, Christy finds a woman there. A woman who has already killed Chadwell, and manages to frame Christy for his murder. She is holding the murder weapon when the police burst in and arrest her.
She escapes, however, and goes to the Irishman for help in getting her money.
It transpires that Morelli is still alive, and the woman who killed Chadwell is an ex-actress whom he uses to frame Christy.
When Morelli takes her to a deserted farmhouse, attempts to incite Christy into pulling another robbery, Jimmy Lascar and Barry join forces to rescue her. Jimmy comes riding in on a powerful Kawasaki motorbike, he's borrowed from his Hell's Angel leader, with Meatloaf's 'Bat out of Hell' running through his mind.

As part of Rave Reviews Book Club Pay It Forward Week,  I'd like to introduce you to Yvette M. Calleiro, author of YA Paranormal The One Discovered.
Picture
Yvette M. Calleiro is a heavily addicted reader of both young adult and adult novels. She spends most of her time psuedo-living in paranormal worlds with her fictional friends (and boyfriends). She's also been known to run on the elliptical machine at her gym for hours while reading anything from paranormal to fantasy to suspenseful thrillers.

When she's living amongst real people, Yvette M. Calleiro is a high school Reading teacher. She's been sharing her love of literature with her students for over fifteen years. Besides writing about the various characters that whisper (and sometimes scream) in her head, she enjoys traveling, watching movies, spending quality time with family and friends, and enjoying the beauty of the ocean.

Yvette lives in Miami, Florida, with her beautiful son who allows her to enjoy children's literature all over again. She also shares her space with an assortment of crazy saltwater animals in her 300-gallon tank.

How do you choose when both options have dire consequences?

Sofia is a 17 year old who is quite content with her life. She has a caring boyfriend who also just happens to be her best friend since birth. She has a loving mother. She is successfully completing her last year of high school and enjoys her part-time job. She can’t imagine wanting more from her life…until Ar’ch (pronounced Ar-rick) enters her dreams, sparking a burning flame inside of her that she can’t seem to extinguish nor does she want to.

Ar’ch is a Diasodz (Die-ah-sodz), a species created by the Goddess back when God created humans. Diasodz were made to heal and protect humans, but when the Diasodz turned their backs on helping humans and left Earth to live in their own world, the Goddess abandoned them. Since then, their powers and their very lives have been fading. A prophecy foretold that a young girl born on Earth would be the Diasodz’s savior. Ar’ch and his brother, Angel, travel to Earth to retrieve her and bring her back to their world before her death day in order to save their kind. Ar’ch knows the drill: find the target, capture her, and safely bring her home. But what happens when the target captures his dormant heart?

Choices create action. Actions have consequences. When faced with the truth, what choice will Sofia make? Will she be able to accept the consequences that follow?

    Author

Michelle Abbott lives in the UK and hates describing herself in 3rd person.

She writes new adult romance about heroes who fight against the odds and are protective of their girl.

She's an avid reader of romance, is addicted to coffee and loves wine and chocolate, so yeah, not the most healthy eating and drinking habits :-) She spends way too much time online when she should be writing. She collects teddy bears and occasionally knits a couple of rows on a sweater she started years ago, which she may eventually finish in time to wear for her funeral :-)
