And finally...
if you've made it this far I want to share with you an excerpt from my upcoming release. It was originally intended to be a short story for inclusion in an anthology. However, I loved the characters so much that it has morphed into a full length book, which I will be publishing as a standalone before the end of this year. I will come up with something else for the anthology :-) I don't have a blurb to share with you yet. I do have a title and cover, which I will share in a later blog post. Enjoy the excerpt!

This is from the point of view of the hero of my story - a drug dealer! It is in draft form, unedited and subject to change.

He leaves and I shut and bolt the door behind him. What an asshole! Making like he was short of cash while he sat there on my couch wearing designer sports gear with money for grass. Playing me for an idiot. Trying to do me out of money that’s mine. I know what it’s like to be poor and he isn’t it. I doubt he ever come home from school hungry and found no food in the house. I bet he never had to hide from debt collectors like me and Mum did. Seventeen years later and I can still remember the dread I would feel when I heard the knock on the door. Mum would drag me over to hide beneath the window, telling me to shush and not move in case they looked in and saw us. At the time I didn’t know who ‘they’ were. I’d crouch there with my eyes squeezed shut, afraid if I opened them and looked up I’d see the face of a monster staring in at me. I’ll never forgive my loser of a father for leaving me and Mum with nothing.

    Author

Michelle Abbott lives in the UK and hates describing herself in 3rd person.

She writes new adult romance about heroes who fight against the odds and are protective of their girl.

She's an avid reader of romance, is addicted to coffee and loves wine and chocolate, so yeah, not the most healthy eating and drinking habits :-) She spends way too much time online when she should be writing. She collects teddy bears and occasionally knits a couple of rows on a sweater she started years ago, which she may eventually finish in time to wear for her funeral :-)
